The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

Last, but not least, who could forget the totally bonkers Series of Unfortunate Events? Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are charming and resourceful siblings. Unfortunately, they’re also exceptionally unlucky. In the first two books alone, they encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, a lumpy bed, a deadly serpent, and a deadly odor. Never before has a tale of three likeable and unfortunate children been so enchanting or so uproariously unhappy.
